Nicola Sutherland, widely known as Coach Nicola, is a transformational coach, consultant, writer, educator, anthropologist, and retired NYPD Detective with more than two decades of experience helping individuals navigate communication challenges, leadership development, emotional intelligence, and personal transformation.

Born in Jamaica and shaped through experiences across multiple cultures and countries, Coach Nicola brings a uniquely global perspective to human behavior, communication, education, and professional development. She is deeply passionate about helping people develop confidence, articulation, adaptability, and real-world problem-solving skills.

During her approximately 25-year career with the NYPD, she received advanced training in investigations, interviewing techniques, surveillance operations, suicide prevention, peer support, dignitary protection, crisis response, and instructional methods. In addition to investigative work, she also served as an instructor and mentor, helping others strengthen communication, leadership, and situational awareness.

Coach Nicola is the founder of Chevannes Consulting Services and creator of the Write to Release workshop ecosystem, which uses writing, reflection, and emotional intelligence as tools for clarity, healing, and empowerment. As a trilingual parent and educational advocate, she believes strongly in preparing people to navigate life independently, confidently, and professionally.
